Sorry guys but you failed... Your mashed potatoes are instant for gods sake! First off I am never in this area and happened to be around lunch, so I relied on yelp for some good eats but was let down. This review is based on lunch.... I love a greasy spoon, mom and pop diner, but a little love typically goes into the food. This was an instant, canned food experience. I ordered the hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and northern beans. Hamburger Steak- dry and overcooked Gravy- instant Mashed potatoes- instant Northern beans- canned I am giving two stars only because the waitresses were very nice. Regarding a real food review, I have had much better at a hospital cafeteria.

I really had high hopes going in based on other Yelpers. We were a bit disappointed. The pancakes were raw in the middle and the grits were the worst we ever ate...shocking for the South. They were really nice and apologetic, which is the reason I did not rate it lower. Maybe it was just an off day.

Good home cooked meals. I go for lunch and they always have a good variety to choose from. Nice people, service is good, no frills or fancy stuff here. Good spot for the locals.

Best breakfast for the buck. Damn good coffee too. A grade A Mom & Pop's Diner. By that I mean: Located off the beaten path? CHECK Good food at reasonable price? CHECK Same waitress works pretty much all the time? CHECK Random TV tuned into Saturday Scooby Doo? CHECK CHECK I really enjoy this place. I would definitely suggest it to others!

If you don't feel like driving to Memphis to enjoy a good southern breakfast, this is the place to go. Huge portions, affordable prices, and one of the best waitresses I've ever had! Food was a little on the greasy side, but it is fresh and hot!

Nice place and great food. Definitely worth your money. It is cheaper than most but you also get the most food for what you pay for.

Average, at best. Fake butter, overdone bottoms on biscuits, odd tasting grits...only got third star because server was friendly to a fault. Would not go out of my way to return.

We keep coming back for the bread pudding. They don't have it every day, but we always ask just to be sure. Some times it is available when it is not on display. The food is always good and plentiful; the bread pudding is special.

Evan's is a dream come true if you like great steak. When you order, the owner hand cuts your steak - not 12 hours before like other places. This means that it is juicy! I wish I could insert Andy Griffith saying "yu-um-um-mmy!" That's how good it is. He also has a very fresh salad bar with homemade dressing that is fantastic. I love good steak, so I love Evan's - its the best steak house in Memphis for taste, bar none.
